We always tell new starters to ignore the times given on beer kits and use the 2 week rule.
2 weeks fermenting,
2 weeks carbonating (indoors / room temperature)
2 weeks conditioning (garage/shed/somewhere cool) - obviously this might not work so well in the summer

Welcome. If it does not work, then still do not give up - unfortunately, but the quality of the equipment and especially material makes a difference: at lower price end, slightly more expensive can be significantly easier to use

Ah, but you also don't need to jump in and spend £500 on a stainless steel monster to get good results either.

Start with your kits & get comfortable with the processes involved so you produce good results.
Then if you still enjoy the hobby you can start to modify the kits with extra ingredients or try an all grain kit to see which would work best for you.

Going all grain makes for a long brew day & probably more equipment. If that's not for you, there are plenty of options for pimping beers kits.

I've been brewing in plastic fv's for almost 10 years now and feel no need to change. We all have different setups but the aim is similar a good drop of beer at the end of the process. high tech or low tech if it produces what you like , job done and don't be afraid to ask us anything* we'd all prefer your beer to be rather than a sink tipper.

* you may WILL get multiple options/opinions though.
