Trying out a new ( to me ) hop in todays brew.
20 liters of Marc Ollorsson's Sunshine beer. More or less a simple SMASH with a bit of Wheat Malt thrown in with the Pale, and hopped with Bramling Cross hops of 2 additions at start of boil and 15 mins to go.

Everything made up last night and grains weighed, but no overnight mash, so it will be a full brew day today of mash and boil.

Can't get into the brewery to switch HLT on till around 0730 as daughter sleeps directly above and I'm a somewhat noisy man. I'm bound to drop the pan lid and cause disharmony...ha haa

I thought I'd give this 4% very light colored ale a try, instead of Golden Delicious although it will have to be good to take that beers place in my armoury.

All being well planning on a further brew ( poss o/night mash Sunday ) as my stocks of draught beer have dwindled due to 3 brews deciding to take ages to ferment out for some reason. ( No beer at the pumps and 2 corny's sat maturing for another week or two... :? )

Makeson brew only just ready to go into corny tomorrow.

cheers Jim,

Just had to order a new digital timer as the pegs have broke on mine.

he heee....been there ...done that.....felt the fool.

well had a good day without any mistakes that I'm aware of.....
Apart from being interupted every few minutes by members of my family wanting lifts here and there. So not a quiet peaceful brew.
However everything was done and dusted for around 4pm and this morning the beer is bubbling furiously away ( my own sa-04 yeast starter )
its a very clean looking beer, the wort is obviously very pale light straw looking and the Krausen is pure white.
Hoping to put my house beer on tonight Piddles Ale for an overnight mash, if all goes to plan.

took this brew out of the fridge where its been sat under 30psi in a corny for over a week as I had to do some work on the fridge to turn it into a fermenting cabinet.
So.....I took the opportunity of hooking up to a tap for a taster........brr it was cold..ha.
Only had a pint, which being the first out the keg it was rather cloudy having sucked up some sediment....however, its a nice light pint with a good white head that held itself. My first taste of Bramling Cross hops and I've got to say they certainly suit the character of this beer which I envisaged for warm days....ha...( got me timings all wrong there then )
It is a clear sharp tasting beer with a pronounced bitterness after being drunk, very similar to a premium Pilsner dare I say. Its still very young of course andthe brew has been disconnected from the tap and moved to the back to sit for a week or two......Enjoyable drink I must say.

I'm Going to brew this beer at the weekend , ill try and remember to take pics and post the brewday forgot to post anything on my last few brewdays.

I was going to brew this today but decided to leave it till next weekend, as I've just ordered a thermapen so ill wait till I have that before brewing

Got round to brewing this on Friday , here's some pics of the brew day.

Hydrometer reading

Grain shot

Temperature was aiming for 65 deg

Hops weighed out

Hops in hop socks

No chill cube

been drinking mine for a few days from the corny. Slightly cloudy, didn't get it as clean as I wanted, however its not a problem.
The beer is crisp dry and refreshing, slightly citrusy with a pronounced bitterness to the after taste which I put down to the flavour of the Bramlin X hops that I'm not use to. It takes a few slurps to adjust to it... :D

Well worth making.

I'm not sure if I'm going to bottle or put in a corny or plastic keg if any of them are empty

gassed mine to 30psi. A bit high but lagerish, and it suits the beer.

Cool I'll either corny or bottle it then give the plastic keg a miss as think I'll also highly carb it.
