Bottled my first ever brew on Monday a Better brew export lager, I've had it in the boiler cupboard since and i think it has carbonated up nicely. I put some in a plastic bottle and it is now quite firm so hopefully i have done it right.

I have a Brewferm Tarwebier in the Fv at the moment which i think is nearly done, going to test it tomorrow, then syphon into another FV and leave it 2 weeks before bottling as per instructions. It says you can bottle straight from 1st FV wondered if anybody else has tried this kit and what did they do?

yes you can bottle from the FV but its better to move it to a 2nd vessel with a tap on and let it stand for a week or two in cool conditions. More sediment will drop out and your brew will be cleaner.
Use a piece of equipment called Little Bottler, affixed to your tap when bottling....much easier

You might also consider leaving it in the first FV at a cooler temp for a week to let more sediment drop out and then rack to your bottling bucket to bottle with the little bottler attachment as mentioned by PD above. It's best not to bottle straight from your FV (to avoid disturbing and transferring sediment) but the debate about whether racking to a secondary FV and back again is worth it is a whole other can of worms.

p.s. Congrats on #1 and #2.

Hi Chaps thanks for the tips, have gone for the syphoning into the secondary FV and I'm going to leave it 2 weeks as i'm going on holiday next week anyway, have also bought a little bottler - what good idea!

Might have a go at a stout when i get back, quite like the look of the Milestone Black pearl, but i'm open to suggestions

Welcome and well done :thumb: . Ive done the coopers original stout twice, and its very good. Ive been eyeing up the milestone too, and will give it a try sometime in the future.

I use one of the coopers fv's with the krausen collar. It also has a tap on. Seeing as a lot of the "debris" is removed altogether with the KC coming out after 4 days or so, does that lessen the need for a secondary fv? I'm thinking of getting a second fv, but i'd have to get a syphon (probably an auto syphon) and an airlock, so it's going to cost me a fair bit aswell as the bucket. I'd hoped removing the kc and maybe storing in the cold for a week might be enough to avoid the need for a second fv. The coopers one is easy to bottle from too, so I'd be using a regular one as a fermenter and the coopers as a secondary and bottling bucket.
