Hi guys here is my first attempt at turbo cider

Tesco apple juice from concentrate 3x1.5 litres for £3
100g White sugar
150g honey
5g champagne yeast
S.g 1066

I added about 3.5 litres of apple juice and will add the remaining litre in a day or two.

What do u reckon It will turn out like, it was bubbling within 10-15 minutes.

Can't go wrong with turbo cider, more of a summer thing for me personally. ;)

What will it turn out like ?

Strong  , have you used the forum calculator at the top of the page? That aside not in a big enough quantity.

I did a few one gallon batches at first and then quickly scaled up to 25 litre ones. Price of the juice is ok but it must be available from somewhere in 5 or 25 litre sizes ?
No one seems to have found any though not that I've seen :?

Yes strong A, ;)

If you look in the calculators, as mentioned, go to ABV calculator, enter start sg and estimated or actual finish sg, for turbo this could be as low as 996, which will give you 9.3% ..........strong

I made some of this on my first batch, when I thought the finish sg would be like beer 1010 or so, big mistake

It'll happily go to 7.5% without you adding any sugar. The way you've done it, it'll finish up not far shy of 10!

I tried some of my friends John bull cider, it was cloudy and didn't taste great but it was bloody strong, unfortunately he didn't do sg.

So looking for a strong turbo, will probably try a normal turbo next and maybe a 40pint kit of cider any recommendations.

Depends what you want! Not really a good session drink proper nutter-maker. Worth remembering that three beer bottles of that is close to 2 bottles of wine. If you treat it like Carling, you WILL fall over :D

Well for the 40'pinter I would like it to be around 5-6% and actually taste nice, something as you say that u can have a proper drinking session to, and maybe something the mrs wouldn't mind a tipple of.

I've only made Cider from apple juice, so far... but my local HBS has a few kits (link below for a look if you want to) I tend to think that the cheaper beer kits are ones that you can play with and deserve a bit of variety with sugars and so on to give them a better body and flavour and I would imagine that the cider kits would be similar... No doubt others can give you some greater input. Good luck!

I know how it is when you have nothing in stock. :( but how about waiting until you see how your turbo suits you ;)
Its really down to what you like, but as I said there nothing wrong with turbo for me, in the right sitution. ;)
I did a pear cider kit once, not very strong or particularly nice tasting, it had a sachet of pear flavour to give it, whatever it was supposed to do :nono: :(
Turbo works for me, won't be touching cider kits again, apple or pear and being an AG brewer don't think I will be going back to beer kits again......... although my first Wherry kit was good.
There's not way back, from AG brewing :D

Turbo can be pretty nice. I'm sitting here supping from a batch I did with ginger; simmered 200g of ginger in 1.5 litres of AJ, then fermented as usual. Delicious!

It's just that my lager has nearly done and I will have an empty fermentation bucket. Might try a real ale or something then.

I recently brewed a finlandia apple and pear cider kit nice 5% ish great taste, at first thought i was having problems getting fizz, but was just me being impatient,
would defiantly highly recommend even my girlfriend liked it, and this is all before it is fully conditioned.
Makes 21 liters
I bought it from here but later discovered my local HBS sells it cheaper so shop around at your localhttp://www.goodlifehomebrew.com/finlandia-apple-and-pear-cider.php

Hi, I bought the black rck cider kit, I was gonner get the finlandia but the black rock got better reviews, may have to try it next.
