I'm having fun with my new Toyota Yaris Cross.
A second hand, one previous owner, two years old with 20,000 on the clock.
It records/shows the mpg as I drive and I can reset this figure whenever I refill the car with petrol.
I fill the same way at the same pump every time and calculate the mpg from the car trip setting and the amount of fuel used.
Every time I make my calculation on paper, it's less than that shown on the car dashboard.
OK - I know things can vary - but this has happened x3 times in a row since I started paying attention to mpg.
Example; my calculation: 48.51 mpg, car shows 56.3 mpg.
I guess it's a common occurrence with cars but how can this happen since the car knows my mileage ( its linked to the odometer ) and must monitor fuel usage since that's linked to my fuel gauge?

Thoughts folks.

MPG? I average less than 53 miles a month on my car. When it gets down to 1/4 full I put some in. Sooner if it's 1/2 and gas takes one of those occasional dips in price.
