I loved Rishi Sunak’s promise on the front page of The Torygraph today!

“I will run the economy like
Thatcher if I win!”

Good luck with that Rishi! The ***** didn’t leave many coal mines for you to close, put well over a million people on the dole and privatised everything but the NHS.

Oh, I get it now! If you win then the NHS will be privatised?

“Vote for Rishi so the
Rich can get richer?”

I hope not!

:hat:

I was made redundant twice under that ******* tenure 79 and 80, in 79 i went from £400 a week to 18 quid on the dole, i worked as a fork truck driver for Di Lusso kitchens which went on to become Moben, we picked orders and our bonus was paid when they went out of the door, half the work force were Italian males under the age of 28 which is or was then the limit of being drafted for national service, on their 29th birthday they would go home athumb..

For anyone having trouble remembering who is “In” and “Out” of the contest for PM just remember Camberwick Green!

Most of us know that the firemen were named:

Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb

So just substitute:

Rishi, Penny, Liz, Kemi, Suella and Tom: with Hunt and Zahawi Out!

So far the multi-millionaire, former Chancellor (the one that got us into this mess) and promiser of tax cuts for the rich is in the lead!

“Quelle surprise!” as the French say!

Bring on Round Two!
:hat:

Here’s the BBC take on the six survivors. (My “bold/italics” within the promises!)

Kemi Badenoch
Has promised tax cuts and low regulation, while being critical of net zero emissions target in her leadership bid.

Suella Braverman
Launched her leadership bid with promises to take the UK out of the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), to cut VAT on energy and reduce regulation while voicing criticism of net zero emissions target

Penny Mordaunt
Has promised to cut VAT on fuel and to raise the basic and middle earner income tax thresholds in line with inflation

Rishi Sunak
Launched his leadership bid with a focus on the economy, ruling out tax cuts before public finances improve

Liz Truss

Launched her leadership bid promising immediate tax cuts, reversal of the National Insurance increase and a long-term commitment to reducing the size of the state

Tom Tugendhat

Has pledged to cut National Insurance and fuel duty, and to increase investment outside of the South East if he becomes leader

So, with the exception of Rishi Sunak, they have all pledged to reduce taxes.

I loved Suella Braverman’s promise to take us out of the European Court of Human Rights ‘cos I fully trust the Tories with my Human Rights. Sorry, but I have to go now ‘cos a pig just flew past my window!
:hat:

I keep saying “You couldn’t make it up!” and Liz Truss is one contender for Boris’s job and possible winner of the “YCMIU” title!

This was the BBC News today:

“Foreign Secretary Liz Truss is to set out her pitch to be the next Conservative leader and prime minister.

She will say the UK should be an "aspiration nation" where every person has the "best opportunity to succeed".”

“Aspiration Nation”? It’s a phrase that fairly slides off the tongue BUT as Foreign Secretary I’m amazed that she doesn’t see that the UK is that already!

Why else would thousands of people risk their lives every year, in flimsy inflatable boats, to get here?

Liz Truss for PM? The Tories will decide for all of us!

Whoever gets in I doubt very much there will be any tax cuts, if there is there will be taxes looming somewhere else. Even if labour get in I would be sure they would be eyeing the national debt. If not you will be looking forward to becoming a banana republic, without the bananas.

When I saw the cobbled together photograph of all the candidates for PM outside the door of number 10 on the BBC news I couldn't help singing in my head 'This is what we call the muppet show' God help us all!

If Labour had forced an election and won what would they do to fix the problems we are all facing I haven't heard anything from them has anyone else.

I doubt they are about to tell anyone for one simple reason!

If the Tories don’t know, they can’t change it to their advantage and claim it as their own idea!

I wouldn’t give the Tories anything that may be useful to them; so I may be wrong and slightly biased!
:D

I see that Suella Braverman has been eliminated from the race for Boris’s job; and that Rishi is still favourite to win!

I dislike the man for what he did as Chancellor in Boris’s Cabinet, but I couldn’t figure out why!

The word “Furlough” kept spinning into my head so I decided to look on t’Internet. Here’s the result;

From the Express:
Last year, it emerged Ms Murty, (Rishi’s wife) who is worth more than the Queen at approximately £500million, used taxpayer money to furlough staff at her gym business.”

He (Rishi) was also heavily criticised for "failing to declare his wife's family wealth in his ministerial register"
.

The article went on:

“Former Treasury minister Lord Myners said: "Getting information from the Government of those who have benefited from taxpayer support is like drawing teeth.

There is a clear reluctance in government to enlighten the public."

and

The backlash Ms Murty, and Mr Sunak, received was fierce, with many outlining their horror over why taxpayer money was being used to prop up such wealthy business owners, while others struggled.

One commenter bluntly summed it up on the article, writing: "These people just keep getting worse, no shame whatsoever!!"

This is the Express remember!

Then Rishi opened his mouth and congratulated himself on how quickly he had invented and put in place the “Furlough Scheme”! He failed to mention anyone who helped him work it out or put in place! It was naked self-aggrandisement!

Here’s what Rishi’s “Great Idea” cost the UK; regardless of who benefited from it!

Enjoy!

PS
The article points out that the “Furlough Scheme” cost the UK Taxpayer £69 billion but went on to comment:

“HM Revenue & Customs’ initial estimates from September last year suggested around £3.9 billion of furlough payments were fraudulently claimed.”

That’s nearly 5.7%! I’ll bet Rishi doesn’t brag about that!
