Hello all!
If plans come together I'll be moving to Ilfracombe (or somewhere nearby) in a month or two. My question is whether anyone here knows what the water is like there? I'm pretty sure that it's a soft water area but I'm hoping to get specifics about the amount of magnesium, sodium, sulphate etc. Any advice much appreciated!

Have you looked at the water company of the area, they usually have pages on the website with detailed water reports. :thumb:

Soft with very little in it . . . Even Jess would have had a hard time walking on it

I did have a look at the South West Water website but there wasn't anything useful to be found. Seemed mostly to be advice about using less water!

Have a look at this. I can see why you couldn't find it. Annoyingly you have to phone them - many water companies have downloadable information although in my case I had to request a report from Yorkshire Water, but there was a web form for this.

Thanks a lot for that rpt - I'll give them a call in the morning. I'll post the results so no one else has to phone them!

You'll need to include the map so that people know if it is for their water supply. It will vary within the water company area.

It will can vary across a town depending on the size of sources and area being supplied. Also note that water can and does change supply sources on occasions although water companies normally try to limit this (and often send letters when they do) as it counts towards there complaints if people phone up about changes to taste odour etc.
