Based on the diverse knowledge we have assembled here, someone may be able to answer this...

I wonder whether anyone knows how to convert a Morso Squirrel gas stove to a wood burning version?
I have phoned Morso however they say it is not possible - not sure if that is true or they want me to buy a new one...

Is it possible?

I would say no as well as the gas one's I looked at were not as heavily constructed as the wood burner I eventually bought. The wood burners get much hotter than the gas ones so need to be more substantial you would be better selling the gas one and buying a multifuel one.

Thanks ni9e, I haven't actually bought it - it's on eBay - but I'm looking for a woodburner - trouble is they are so damnd expensive

I found some reasonably prices ones new on eBay but have been warned off them because they are apparently made of very thin cast iron so will not last long compared to something like the Morso which has thick cast iron.

You are wise looking at a Morso, they are top quality.

However I think I know where there is a water jacketed wood burner, (so will do central heating as well as heat room) if you are interested, It will be cheap £100-150ish if he still has it and 8KW if I remember rightly, and not too far for you to travel, its in congleton.

Not morso though I think its an Arrow.

Let me know if your interested and I will ask him if he still has it.

Thanks for the offer UP - I think 8kW is too much for our room and the water jacket would not be used. Best to let it go to someone else but thanks all the same :thumb:

B&q do a wood burning stoves for £230 I bought one for the back room and the b&q stove is heavier and more well built than the stovax one we have in the front room the only thing the b&q stove does not have is air wash to keep the glass clean but for the £350 extra for the stovax is a small compramise.
