Ha, on the evening Boris was going to make his first announcement, I thought "something serious is going on" So ran out and filled the car up. He announced lockdown and since then the price has gone down. Doh!!
Thought I was clever!!!

I paid $1.14/ litre for diesel, about 57 pence a litre. Unleaded is $0.80 a litre. about 40 pence are you sure you guys aren't talking gallon price?

That's nearly half what we're paying... But all governments screw taxes differently.

Yes, your sales tax (VAT) is about 20% isn't it ours is 10%.

Yes ours is 20% but I mind chatting to a fellow who had been working in Australia for a few years as a joiner and gave up smoking and cut down drinking as he said the price was a bit too much.

Drinking, not wine but beer is pricey, $11 $12/ pint is probably an average 5 to 6 GBP in the pubs serving craft beers. Cigarettes I wouldn't have a clue, tobacco was grown here but was to difficult to control. I don't think it is grown any more in Victoria, I believe growing tobacco carries a bigger fine than growing marijuana.
