Diesel prices reach record of over £1.80 a litre

I always thought, though have no idea if it’s correct, that there comes a point where refining costs become less than oil costs, so as diesel uses more oil it becomes more expensive

Oil is $100 a barrel. A barrel is 158 littes. Diesel is £2 a litre. I don't think we're quite there yet.

I heard (no idea if it's true or not) that diesel is taxed more than petrol
