Just want to publicly say a massive thank you to Moley for taking the time to come and see me, give me lots of advice, a few things but mostly a wealth of knowledge!!

Thanks so much, im looking forward to sampling those samples later.

oh and ps........ it has started!!!!! :D

Oh stop it, you're making me blush

I was there for no more than an hour, dropped off a couple of bottles of wine as promised, took over his kitchen and threw together a Wurzel's, racked an elderflower (from kit) he's already got pretty clear and left him a tilted racking platform which took me 2 minutes to make and cost me nothing, plus a few spare bits and pieces and an old spare copy of “First Steps” which is starting to fall apart.

Great to meet you Terry

Yes, that's a great little tip, I'm sure I got it from this forum and think it might have come from Aleman.

Glad you like, it's even more bloody loverly when you think that comes in between 40-45p a bottle

Muddy: The guy's less than 2 miles out of my way, it was nice to meet another forum member and I'd be delighted to meet a few more.

+1 with what Tez says, Moley your a true gent. Im still using the DJ labels and record sheets you sent me. We will have to arange a meet up at BH market one Saturday so i can return the favor.

what do you do, with all of the drink you brew as you always have something on the go...?
Well to be honest I probably drink too much, I will have most of a bottle of wine most nights. Apart from that, I've given a few bottles away to w**k colleagues and Mrs. Mole has taken a few for her friends and colleagues.

Mostly though, I store it.

I've said it time and time again, and will keep on saying it, winemaking requires patience.
Contrary to what people might assume, I don't possess that virtue in any great measure.
Therefore, the only way to build up stocks and give my wines proper time to mature is to make it faster than we can drink it. I've now got finished wines still in DJs put away and forgotten about, and for example I will bottle last year's damson before I pick this year's, but there's no hurry for now.

I did actually do a rough stocktake a couple of nights ago, and if I didn't start any more we could have a bottle of wine a night until about next June.

ive been brewing since dec last year and have 18 gallons of wine, ginger beer and tc in "stock"

ive gave a few bottles away, and started to drink a bit, but im really trying to build up a stock of more mature stuff that will taste better....

my bro in law is also about to start a few juice wines after tasting my wurzels..so it cant be all bad, we had a dinner last week with 8 family members and they all drank my g/beer,wines and tc, then complained the shop bought red was a bit rough......

I'm sooo sorry that I missed this thread!

On behalf of THBF I'd like to say that Moley is indeed a credit to the forum, his help and advice is most welcome

Keep it up and thanks Moley :thumb:

That's something I didn't even think about until I read it in this thread a few days back. Good bit of info :D

Yeah, alright, thanks for the kind words but PACK IT IN will ya!

This forum has been invaluable to me for brewing advice, you've led me to the dark side (without any resistance, I came of my own accord) but I'm still an AG newbie and you still have to help out when I don't know which or how many hops to use and stuff like that.

I am delighted to be able to help others on areas of winemaking which I feel qualified or experienced enough to comment on. Where I can't I will say so, try to find out or try to find a link to someone who can.

Isn't that what forums are about?

And I haven't even started on the spellchecking, there are many on here who still get away with murdering the English language and I let it go.

I'm glad to see that others are backing my stance on the lager / larger issue, although I did have to re-read UP's first rant when he spoke of “larger producers” to check that he was indeed referring to scale and not product.

That lager/larger one annoys me too - as do many others
Anyway, keep up the good work Moley  :thumb:
