Mixing Yeast?

If you don't mind, I'm curious how you stopped the fermentation? Are you kegging?
I've had experience combining different yeasts and it was all good. You initial idea should work pretty well.

Thanks David! I keg with temperature control via a DIY peliter device like the Brew Jacket. So when I saw 1006, I put it in the keg with 250g priming sugar, left it for 2 days at room temp, then dropped it to 11C which is the lowest I can get it without using the main fridge. Maybe it's not cold enough for proper conditioning?
 
I have never had a problem with wilko Yeast (gervin/nottingham) it is reasonably clean and doesn't seem to leave any after tastes to me also I have never found it going lower than 1.008 and generally nearer 1.010 as a matter of course. I do use Wilko yeast for the majority of my brews even IPA's only using specialised yeasts for Kolsch etc, are you sure it is the yeast that has left the taste you are not keen of and not some other reason?
