 I hope you're wrong I have an -05 brew in my sights shortly.

EDIT - just seen your EDIT - yep we would

05 for me has always been a rpita. It won't stop fermenting and takes ages to clear. I had to stop a 1.048 brew at 1.006.
I skimmed it twice and the ruddy yeast head kept coming back, used chilling in the end to stop it
Don't get me wrong, it produces possibly one of the cleanest tasting beers a yeast can.
I'm going to switch to 05 as my house yeast and just get on with coping with it's 'problems', it's a really good yeast :thumb:

I know what you mean, do you rember that SNPA clone that I brought you - tasted feck all like SNPA but was a good beer IMO - that was my only brew with 05 and I loved it.

I'm planning a brew with pale, flaked maize, perle & cascade - i think that cries out for -05 :thumb:

Well, US-05 has yet to let me down
Racked to corny with IG on 12/03 and tonight I took a trial jar sample and added some more IG

The 05 has totally overwhelmed my poor IG again, looks like it needs transfering to another corny and re-dosing
Will there be any hop aroma left, just as well I save some M hops for dry hopping.

US-O5 nearly put me off brewing for life when I used it on a kit. Mother just wouldn't stop and looked like absolute **** for ages and I thought i'd stuffed it up. Alas it was a bad yeast to use on the cheap kit beer as it let all that malt extract twang flood to the fore. It looks lovely now I'm not so unsure of what's happening and it produces a lovely pint.

I have just tapped corny 3 of this beer, and I have to say, it is almost without doubt, my best beer to date...in another league actually. I made a beer a while ago which was pretty special, and I'll have to try that again before declaring this outright winner, but the signs are very good.
Unfortunatley, I haven't had chance to dry hop this baby, and the cost of hops may deter me from brewing it again, but it has cemented my view that I prefer high IBU/alc ales :drink:

That's great Vossy, you'll probably go to hell for using all those hops in one brew
I've got a comp beer lined up next, but after that a DP IPA, 1.2kg EKG in 60ltr...and that's one of the less hop thirsty brews :drink:
Need to find a slot for the forum brew also

Sounds great V :thumb:

I'm trying to find a slot to brew as I have NO BEER at the moment (until 40L of Shive Talkin is ready) don't think i'll be brewing for AGES  :(

Heya Vossy,

Nice looking brew that.

Out of interest where did you get your sparge head? I am about ready to fire up the Munky HERMS system see.

Cheers,

John

Hi John,

Out of interest where did you get your sparge head? I am about ready to fire up the Munky HERMS system see.

Looking forward to seeing the Munky HERMS
Sparge head was from Morebeer it's the cheapest bit in my system  I drilled a 15mm stop end and glued it in so I could use it wil 15mm pipe....might have a pic somewhere :hmm:

I spotted the Brew on your Blog, but couldn't leave a comment.
Where'd ya get yer Mittelfrueh from? Taste/ aroma wise how does it compare to other Hallertauer hops?
:)

TBH, I can't compare Mittelfrueh to other nobel hops as it's been so long since I brewed with any other. I'm actually staring to use M instead of EKG, I like M that much. I must get round to changing the Pale Ale brew I did on the forum as that was MD in disguise :D
I'm going to try and bottle some with my CPBF soon, if you want one and it makes it to the bottle pm me your addy ;)
