My Hop spider, used during boil, is a very fine mesh. I recirculate through the hops to ensure good utilisation, but with 50g or more of hop pellets from 15/20min, the spider blocks. And overflows unless flow kept right down.
But even when it oveflows, I've not had pump cloggig issues yet (BZ gen4). But it did once, when I tried without spider.

Big issue - spider takes ages to clean afterwards, even using a fine water spray.

My SS hop container, used for dry hopping, has much larger holes. Do see occasional hop (pellet) particles, when transferring, but they never seem to appear in finished beer.

I've started going for leaf hops, where available. Then everything is so much easier to clean.

That's exactly what I found.
Solved with an MJ 800 in the boil. Cleans up with a shower head.
I kept my finer one for dry hopping.

Caustic (TFR) gets them super clean in seconds after rinsing away the debris.
