mash ph and litmus papers

Never used limus papers to check mash ph before always relied on taste and hydrometer readings. If i was to purchase some litmus papers what would or should the reading be when mash is done?

Firstly you don't want litmus papers you want a much more accurate type of pH measuring strip. You want to be able to get readings in the area of 4.5 to 5.5 with an accuracy of at most .2.
