I use Freesat because we don't get the full # of channels. Just like every other government project, Freeview was never finished. The last few transmitters costing too much to upgrade. Bit like EV charging infrastructure and the NOT spots for mobile service being defunded this week.

I also read that the BBC are planning to decommission the Broadcast Infrastructure by the mid 2030's so everyone will need to stream TV by then. Don't know if Freesat is in that mix

As we move to the 30's, it does look like a digital device will be core to life and if you can't use one or afford one you will be excluded.

It also means that the NOT spots and bad broadband people will also be cut off.

I may be in the minority but I’ll go out on a limb and say that I think the licence fee (which also covers much more than just the BBC) represents excellent value for money. I’ll go further and assert that the BBC still makes some of the worlds best factual programming, and while their news service is slower to report than modern online services, it is on the whole well supported and generally quite balanced.

I agree and there is no way we will stop paying if it means havimg to agree not to watch live BBC progs, SWMBO watches more TV on the BBC channels than any other but they could still give us the same content by agreeing to allow adverts and scrap the licence fee.
