Need a proper thread for it.
I probably should have done that😔.
If we push the swap back a couple of weeks, say 2nd weekend in September, then there’s time for everyone who wants to get a brew on to join in.
I’ll post a thread when I’ve finished packing.

That'll work for me. I intend to brew up as soon as I'm finished holidaying. It may have to carbonate up in custody of the Royal Mail, but I don't see that as a particular problem

Mine may not last that long but could also give me the opportunity to brew a tweaked second version as I'm not entirely satisfied with attempt one.

Autumn Swap - Belgian Beer
No sub-style. Either share your Brew Like A Monk entry and feedback OR if you didn’t enter the comp, brew and share the Belgian beer you would have otherwise.
Are we still on for this as I have two empty kegs and one was going to be a fruit saison but I might change that to something I haven’t done before.

@SMP Brewery Yes, still swapping Belgian Beers in autumn. Unfortunately, my Dubble crashed and burned so I'm out.

Impy stouts are getting swapped in October, Autumn beers are brew now (if not already done so) and swap end of November-ish.

I'll run another poll at some point for next years styles.

Brew another 👍

I must try my Impy, no idea what it’ll taste like as they have been in the garage with all the temperature fluctuations this so called summer.

I've got an imperial stout ready, had one last night, much better than it was a few months ago.

If I'm entering the Belgian one I'll have to brew another, my dubbels have turned into handgrenades, I've had three go boom in the shed. They are now all tucked away in a little fridge keeping cold and safely isolated. 😬

Some of my Dubbels have been in isolation as I handpicked what I thought stronger bottles and carbonated to 3.4 volumes. They haven’t had any issues over the summer but the experiment is not wholly a success as it doesn’t make a lot of difference to the taste experience. Maybe the flavour is more intense in the high carb bottles but overall they are not superior.

I thought I’d scope views for potential styles ahead of doing another Google poll for next year.
The first question will probably be how desirable another slow burner brew is, so I’ll wait until we swap the Impys before posting it.

In the meantime, who’s got good ideas for novel-to-most styles to explore.

My suggestions for inclusion are altbier, dunkleweisen/weizenbock, Cali Common/Kolsch/Cold IPA type thingy and something Scottish (regulars will not be surprised to hear 80’ would get my vote on that one😂)

Have a think and let us all know what you want included.

I saw elsewhere a competition for a beer that must include at least one foraged ingredient. I don't know what came of it, but it sounds a lot of fun.
Seems to me that gruit would include foraged flavourings.
Seaweed cider, anyone?

Or a Czech lager, light or dark?

For a slow burner, biere de garde or an American Barleywine?
Good shouts all round. Lager did badly in last years poll, I suspect not everyone can regulate fermentation temperature well enough. So I threw the pseudolager options in as a compromise.
