I've brewed Mangrove Jack's classic Amarican PA no 11.
I'm very new to home brewing. In fact this is my first home brew in 30 years. Hoping it tastes better than those bad old days.
Wort has come down from 1040 to 1014. I've left it a couple days. There is no discernable change in SG. But it is still bubbling at around once every 2 mins at 22c. So I took the decision to add finings. Switched the heat pad off. It's down to 15c but it still bubbles albeit every 2 mins plus. Is this normal?
I am considering racking, priming & bottling it this evening. Or should I rack it and leave it?
Apologies if this is the wrong thread.

How long has it been fermenting?

At 1.014 it may have a couple more points to drop which can take a while. I wouldn't bottle until I get 3 hydrometer readings the same over consecutive days.

I don't have any temperature control with my brews and some can take between 3 and 4 weeks before they are finished once the nights start getting colder. Sometimes it may look like they have finished but I find I get a clearer beer if I leave it in the fv for another week as this allows the yeast to clear up after itself. Also I have more time to bottle at a weekend rather than a weeknight so leaving another week is actually easier for me.

Hi thanks for your reply. I put the yeast in on the morning of the 18th. So its had 10 days probably nine fermenting at 22c

Ok thanks. I'll do that. Should I rack it from the FV and raise the temp back to 22c. Or leave it in the FV?
Bearing in mind I've put finings in already.

Check what your hydrometer reads in water, at the appropriate reference temperature (usually 20degC) - Mine reads about 1.003 so I need to subtract this from whatever I'm measuring in beer/wort.

It doesn't make a huge difference if something ferments from 1.053 to 1.013 or 1.050 to 1.010 - the ABV will be close enough the same and the impact on hop utilisation is negligible.

But when you're looking at finishing gravity and asking yourself "is it done yet?" then those couple of gravity points make a difference - 1.016 sounds distinctly not quite done yet, whereas 1.013 could be done (depending on yeast and mash temp).

Whilst I agree with everything that Matt76 says above, this is a kit and not all grain. I think that 1.014 for a kit is slightly on the high side and would be tempted to leave it to see if it drops another couple of points or so. The kit will also have a MJ yeast and I would have to check my notes, but am pretty sure that all my brews using MJ yeasts have gone lower than that.

Thank you for all your replies. Very interesting. As I'm new to this I assure you I'm taking it all on board.
I've put the wort back on heat and I'll leave it another week.
