Recently bought a fridge to fit my FastFerment conical for cold crashing.
Read somewhere that you're not supposed to keep the airlock on when its in the fridge and seal it up with a cap.
I now know that this is poor advice

Only the 2nd brew in it from brand new too!!

Fill it full of very hot water, it will pop out I’m sure.

If you really feel that you need to cold crash in the fermenter then the best advice is to have a source of CO2 ready to feed back in as the beer contracts.

There's a recent thread on here about capturing the CO2 released during fermentation in a balloon so you get a CO2 source for free. Here it is:
