Hi,
Looking for some gas advice please.
I recently scrapped a Lincat DF4 fryer as the tank was ruptured. Else it was fully functioning.
I have kept the valve (SIT Nova mV) and was looking to repurpose it in a home brewing set up. I'd like to control the temperature of a hot liquor tun that sits on a propane ring burner. The ring burner is a very simple affair with no flame failure device.
Looking to use the valve to control the propane ring, reusing the pilot assembly from the fryer, to provide the pilot, thermocouple and the themopile.
I will need to get a new thermostat as the engineer that removed it cut the wire before it occurred to me I could have another use of it.
The main question I need answering is can I use the valve without an overheat stat?
Obviously no need for one as it is only boiling water and water can't go on fire.
Also, any idea if I could use a PID in place of a rotary thermostat?
Many thanks,
