Hi all, my brews are finishing with not much punch. Two can kits. Lots of nice activity on 1st fermentation and then into bottles. Any ideas on where i should pay more attention?

I must admit to not using the hydrometer. I just waited until the bubbles stopped rising for a couple of days.
Used Muntons pilsner kits. No sugar added to 1st and one teaspoon to each bottle on the 2nd. :drink:

I can see the relevence of abeytptfc's counter questions :thumb: Without an original hydrometer reading & a final reading you cant really tell whether the fermentation has stopped prematurly (stuck) or has finished. With hydrometer readings the forum calculator (top left) will give you an indication whether you ar in the"ballpark"

You can adjust the alcohol level by adding more sugars at the start of fermentation. By taking a hydrometer reading at the beginning of your brew you can have a stab at the final strength.

My rule of thumb is get the OG up to 1040, which should get you about 4% or thereabouts.
