We'll dry January is just one month but it does give your liver a bit of a rest. Might not be a consideration for the younger forum members but maybe it is for us older folk.

You have just described every normal brewdog beer
They have gone downhill in the last 5 or 6 years - I think since they opened the new brewery extension for sours/mixed fermentation beers which seems to have died a death. They have ruined Elvis Juice; Punk is not what it used to be; Dead Pony Club seems different. The only reasonable recent beers are the Hazy Jane single, double, triple IPAs, so I should have known what to expect :(

Next up - Brewdog Elvis AF.

Big grapefruit aroma on opening. Pours dark copper with a lively head. Looks promising so far (stop sniggering at the back).

Head doesn't last too long but that's OK.

Taste... thin and watery with that artificial powdery taste at the end. No carbonation on the tongue so this is like drinking dark coloured grapefruit flavoured water.

Bah!!

Edit: doesn't taste quite as thin by the time I'm at the bottom of the glass but may just be getting used to it

Tonight’s treat will comprise a Guinness and a Beaverton Lazer Crush.

I’m starting with the Beavertown IPA. Again the head collapsed quickly and the beer has a light body but this one isn’t watery. Not a lot of hops on the aroma but the flavour is actually quite good - the only AF IPA I’ve had so far that I’ve actually enjoyed.

The first photo could be the solution. Black and Tan.

I'd maybe try two Guinness 0.0% and a regular Guinness split over three pints.

Tried this in Airport lounge. Talks the talk but it is low in aroma, slight acid taste to it. Cant put my finger on the hop taste as their isn't much.
It's alcohol free beer and I suppose it's free beer, it isn't worth paying for.

I've been cutting my big beers for a bit, I'm attempting to do dry Jan and a bit more until I go to Cornwall in Feb half term. Then I'll get to a few local breweries (and hope that St Austell have Big job in stock)

Big Mash Gang fan. They are trying some really good stuff and on all honesty, there's not much of theirs that I've not liked.

Cold Coast is up there with one of the beers of 2023 for me personally.

I'm looking forward to trying their collabs with Siren which have just been released. Their Collab list is impressive.

My selection for tonight. I went to Waitrose earlier to see what AF beers they have available. At my Waitrose there’s not a big selection - three lagers, Guinness, Punk, and Ghost Ship. Luckily, my delivery from William Bros. (recommended by Peebee) arrived today.

I’m starting with the Ghost Ship. Apart from the head being short-lived, this doesn’t seem a million miles away from the original, just slightly thinner tasting. It’s 0.5% and per pint is 115 calories, and 21.8g of carbs (so perhaps not so good for diabetics).

Maybe not but if I can find a few that are a good simile I’ll keep some in stock for when people are driving. So far I have 3 I’d be happy to serve (no bitters yet unfortunately).
Not knocking them H i have tried a few over the years, Kalibar was one on my wedding night as i had to drive down to Hawrich to get a ferry

Now trying the first of the Williams Bros. beers. When I cracked this one open it gushed, I think over-carbonated. The aroma is sweet and fruity like jelly fruits. The flavour is quite nice initially but there is a slightly artificial aftertaste.

I’ve also had a delivery from north of the border today. Hoppy IPA first and this isn’t bad at all.

Perhaps a touch hoppier than my taste usually, but has some body and very drinkable to the end of the glass.

One of the few AFs Ive had and thought I could go straight back for another 😊😊
