Entered a couple of beers into a small local homebrew competition on Tuesday night, hoping to get some feedback as much as anything else, they picked up 1st, 2nd and also best in show.

Our local micro will be brewing it in a few weeks time and selling it in and around Portsmouth. I get a day brewing on a bigger scale and also I think there was talk of getting a cask to take home ( I'd had a fair few 49ers by the time we discussed the plan ). It's taken me 2 days to get over the excitement and now just looking forward to a days big boy brewing... Also be interesting to see the difference when it's brewed in volume and not left for 2 months to condition.

Well done.....

Following in Barnsley Brewers footsteps...can't be bad..are you still going to talk to us all now your famous...

HAHAHA.. looking at my post count I'm too quiet anyway!! :hmm:

I remember reading yours last year BB and thinking ' Oooh, I'd love to do that '

Thats brilliant

Dont forget the camera, have we mentioned that we like pics?

Well done!

Congrats on the brew! But did I read correctly? For your recipe all you get is a free barrel and a chance to brew your own beer on a large scale? This company will be making a nice profit brewing your beer!!!! Where is your share? :wha: Let me guess....they bought most of the 49er before negotiations began?

Maybe it is because I am in sales (and brew in southampton) but once the hangover has worn off, you are left paying £3+ a pint your own beer in the local  Hope you have not signed anything yet!!! Are you looking for a sales rep?

Will look forward to a taste soon though

Good man - that's fantastic news H... congrats.

Will they let you take pics? Can you get some decent yeast from them? Are they likely to steal your recipe and make a mint?

Well done, have a great day and don't forget to invite us all around when you get that keg!

There will be photos :thumb:

I don't feel ripped off in anyway, I post recipes regularly and am just chuffed a brewery thinks one is good enough. I'd have done it for nothing!! He is at least trying to compensate me in some way, and beer is always a good way

He has offered me yeast before, and I must get some ( I buy malt from him already) :thumb:

I'd be chuffed to bits too :drink: :drink: :drink:

I'd definately take up his offer of yeast, although it won't be as convenient to handle and use as US05

Fantastic! Even better since I went to uni in Portsmouth and think of it as a second home! Which pubs will be selling it?

I'm with Kyral, let us know where it'll be on sale, it'll make a good chance from most of the stuff in pubs down this way

No idea yet, I'd guess at johnny Russell and leopold, as they were involved in comp. I'll post more as I find out though :thumb:
