I have had mine in the fridge for at least 3 months. I bought 10 100ml Duran bottles so i don't waste space but its getting obsessive as about to order more.
If you can culture yeast from a bottle am sure will last a while in the fridge.

I tend to use a liquid yeast for five or six generations. I collect, wash and store the slurry from one brew and pitch it in the next. Brewing about every month this seems to work. I've wondered around the different English yeast strains. They certainly have very different brewing characteristics. Some big top fermenters, some very low attenuation, some like Wyeast 1968 drop to the bottom like a stone. Their impact on beer flavour I still ponder. I've brewed great beers with dry and liquid yeast. I've brewed ordinary beers with both too. But it adds to the interest. I'm basically in this hobby for interest and to get away from "same old".

Because there are so many strains such lets say something more special like a saison.. You might not or probably wouldn't make a saison all year around so you may put it away for many months...

What I thought you could do is maybe refresh with a starter if its going to be longer than 6 months just to freshen it up..?
