I don't know if this is on sale at the Lidl in the UK as well, but I'll post it here just in case...

I don't know if it is food safe or rated at high temps. It says it is for garden and "Hauswasserwerke" (home water works) but I don't know if that means hot water. Also no idea how fine the filter is.

Either way it's worth checking out.

EDIT:
It's on Ebay too, but the ad there says that the liquid shouldn't be over 35C. :(

Great for dry hoping though or on transfer to the FV. If I were to paypal you the money would you be able to post this to me? Depending on cost of postage of course.

I've just bought one of these from my local Lidl in Newcastle upon Tyne.

I know it's not rated for high temps but it's so chunky (particularly for a tenner) I'm tempted to try it between my boiler and my plate chiller. Just hope it doesn't give off any nasties!

It also comes with an adaptor that enables the connecting hose to rotate which I thought one day could be the basis of a rotating sparge arm.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Cool! Maybe try it with just hot water first and then taste it and see what you think.

An update.

Yesterday I did my first brew with the filter in place between my kettle and plate chiller. The filter performed excellently and withstood the heat. The wort tasted fine.

The only caveat is that I still used my existing in-kettle filter also. I am a bit worried that all the break material and hops may block the tap before the filter but I intend to bite the bullet and get rid of it (because I don't like it vey much) for the next brew.

I'll post how I get on.
