didn't he get fined for his part in partygate along with Boris?
Why is no one making a big deal about this when he may become leader.

The Poundland Thatcher hasn't done well in the debates so far and her recent speech (posted here earlier) was cringewirthy.

Is he really any worse than the above, I know who I would vote for if I was a member.

Spot on, I tried to watch as I was genuinely interested in what they had to say but Rishi was allowed to keep interrupting and talking over her the woman asking the questions should have stopped him but didn't 10 minutes was enough for me.

No. I was suggesting that Sunak isn't as bad as Johnson because he didn't repeatedly lie to the house of commons.

Before Brexit we were NEVER stopped for any length of time by the French Border Control.

At least once a year over a period of twenty-five years, we went to France either in a car/motorhome (often towing a caravan or trailer) or a motorbike:

• Dover > Calais
• Dover > Dunkerque
• Folkestone > Calais
• Portsmouth > Caen
• Portsmouth > Cherbourg
• Portsmouth > St Malo
• Poole > Cherbourg

The French Border Control made a cursory check of our Passports in some UK departures going to France, but never on the way back.

On the other hand, the UK Border Control checked the car, motorhome and caravan on almost all occasions whether going or returning.

(One UK “Jobs Worth” suggested that I dumped my Opinel knife on my way to France. I had a much bigger knife and a meat-cleaver in the kitchen drawers!)

It’s so easy to blame someone else, be they French, immigrants, Covid etc when the true blame lies a lot nearer to home!

It’s not as if Brexit has been a surprise; especially as Boris had an “Oven Ready Brexit” just raring to go.

Surely, someone told Boris and the UK Border Force that, after Brexit, EVERY Passport needs to be scrutinised and stamped by the receiving EU Country and that this will cause delays?

Let’s look on the bright side, we’ve got our Country back; blue Passports, Crown marks on our pint glasses etc. (*)

Worth noting for anyone planning to travel with pets , that since Brexit passports are now also checked on the UK side travelling to France . (Previously they were only checked when returning from France in Calais) Rabies boosters need to be administered at least three weeks before travelling . I was almost in trouble last year while sailing from Portsmouth to Bilbao last year, with a Spanish inspector at the port . The booster shots were 2 days under 3 weeks and she wasn't going to let me board . The crazy thing is that I wouldn't have been checked if travelling directly from Ireland to Spain or France but by travelling through the UK l fell under the new brexit travel regulations . When I arrived in Spain, I was directed to a separate customs lane, to the rest of the cars which had UK reg plates, the passports were given a very quick cursory check and I was off , it seemed that they were checking all the UK cars , as they all had their luggage boots open . A number of them passed me a few hours later at breakneck speed , trying to make up lost time.

It's looking like Sunak didn't do himself any favours going by the callers to 5 live this morning many of which are Tory his constant interruptions made him look to desperate to win and stopped her getting her side of things out it'll be interesting to see what the polls show today.

Not to that extent. There have occasionally been hold ups with trucks in the past where the police have held them on the motorway but nothing like what happened this weekend. We were visiting my father in law who’s lived about two miles from the tunnel for over 30 years and he said that it was far worse than anything he’d ever seen before. The A20 was stationary for several miles for about eight hours and many people had come off that and the M20 to try and find an alternative routes which had the effect of blocking up lots of surrounding roads so that no one, not even locals could go anywhere.

However I confess to a degree of schadenfreude laughing at all the people who voted to become a third country outside the EU complaining about being treated like a third country outside the EU.

I am tempted to 'sound off' over this, living close by the M20 in Ashford, Kent, but am afraid nothing would be printable and would get me banned.
I will only paraphrase the old saying thus:
"How can you tell when a sitting Tory PM, or the last 2 candidates for the position on the ballot paper, are lying?"

P. S. I have lived in Kent my entire 66years and have visited/passed through France frequently, usually more than twice a year.
For what it's worth, the restrictions and subsequent queues after Brexit are way worse than ever experienced before.
