ok so im going to as some noob questions.

i have a starter kit, instead of using bottles can i store in a keg? eg. king keg?

if so, do i still need to use carb. drops?

and how do you keep a 25litre barrel cold?

told you it was noob questions

Yes you can use a keg but it must be primed for carbonation, if you use drops then I would suggest dissolving them first in hot water and adding the mixture to the keg putting the brew in and then adding some gas via the Co2 valve.

Keeping it cool is a fridge that is not being used for family goodies (or food I think the wife calls it!)

Good luck.

Hi mate

You may already know this, and if so I apologise, but if it is a lager you are doing and you want it fizzy like lagers normally are, you will not be able to hold this in a pressure barrel. These plastic barrels are not designed to take the high pressure needed to keep lager fizzy. Your options are either to bottle, or to buy a cornelious keg.

I do not have a Cornelius keg (corny) but they come highly recommended on the forum. They are quite expensive though.

Regarding keeping it cool, i got an old fridge off ebay for £22 recently. it sits in the garage and is used solely for homebrew, either fermenting, lagering, or chilling my beer.

I am guessing you havea coopers starter kit if you have carb drops? In future, my personal opion is ditch the carb drops and use normal sugar, much cheaper and does the same thing.

Hope this helps, good luck with your brew

Sorry but I just had to ask, if the carb drops came in the kit how can it be cheaper to ditch them and use normal sugar?

Not for this one, i just meant for future brews. Unless of course there are enough carb drops to do more than this brew.
