I,ve just read an article on brewing lagers and it says the MAX temperature for fermentation is 12 degrees celcius. I would of thought this was a MIN not a MAX. Anyone comment ??

I have not brewed a lager yet but I understand lager yeast ferments at a much lower temperature. I had in mind it is around 12°C so what you read is probably correct.

For lager yeasts 12C is pretty much getting to the max, although some strains are happy up to 14C. As far as minimum temperature is concerned around 8C, I know some Czech Breweries that pitch at 4C and allow the tempt to rise to 9C as fermentation proceeds.
