I've heard mention of a great labelling program out there somewhere.. what do you guys use for making labels? Software / label media etc - mine are mediocre at best, looking to improve!

I normally use photoshop to create the label, then print onto sticky labels. I have also taken some information about label creation (mostly design concepts) from this website :

Here

However to answer your question, I don't know of any homebrew label programs.

Enter Beer label builder then click on DIY Photo/Text Wine Labels

I open the jumbo preview and then save image as . . . to save it to the PC . . . then use word to print out a label sheet to fit on staples STLAS8 (Avery J8165/L7165) labels

I do similar to AM but just use word and Avery J8163 labels, It's fairly essential to use a laser printer as ink jet printed labels smudge with damp.

That's true; but you can prevent this with a fine layer of hairspray.....just a cheapo brand, you don't need posh Cossak or L'Oreal
There is a specialist artists equivalent, but I forget the name and it costs a fortune.

Why bother with sticky labels? just print them onto normal paper and then stick them to you bottles using milk or hair spray. Thats what i do and it works a treat.

I design mine in Paint.net (compares to Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro but free) and print them off on A4 plain paper, cut them out and stick them on with pritt stick :thumb:

Because the ones I use have super strong glue that means whoever I send a bottle to, can't reuse the bottle with out spending ages getting the label and glue off
