Hello all,is there an alternative float system for these barrels? I have found in the past that the standard float is to say the least lacking! I would have thought that a "boyant float" that is to say a float which hangs just below the beer surface would be better,is there such an animal? I'm fed up with loosing so much beer as the gas disapears up the pipe

Regards Mark P.

I used to weight mine with some stainless bolts and nuts, cant remember if it was 2 or three I used M6 bolts. that way it keeps the pipe under the surface and beer only Bolts on the pipe end so the pingpong ball stayed at top.

I found that ensuring the pig pong ball was the opposite end of the float body to the point the tube goes through helped, I also swapped to a slightly larger diameter tube with one of my kegs to prevent kinking, which had happened a couple of times.

i use floats in a couple of corny kegs, they are from the 'caskwidge' system and are attached with a thin walled flexible silicone hose. the float and tubes are not cheap, but if you can find some thin walled silicone tubing perhaps you could mod the existing floats you have?

I've used a method somewhat similar to the approach suggested by DrinkTillIdie by putting a couple of nuts/bolts into a small medicine tablet bottle and attaching this to the tube. The medicine bottle also acts as the float.
