Hi there, anyone got any thoughts on cooling a King Keg?
I don't want to go down the 'put it in the fridge' route as I don't have space for another fridge, or consider running the beer through a commercial type beer chiller (seems very uneconomical to run up one of these just to draw a pint or two off each day).
So, I have had a quick look at these keg jackets (mighty expensive!) and have thought about some sort of heat exchanger, maybe a stainless steel coil small enough to be fitted through the cap (drill a couple of holes in the cap, fit with bulkhead type fittings for the cooling medium to pass through) but not sure how I'd go about cooling such a system once outside the keg?

Reason for the question is that I don't like drinking warm beer and where I store and brew in my garage, it's currently 22 degrees in this warm weather we're having!

I'm going to put mine in the fridge, just make sure I watch pressure etc very carefully.

I have just suffered the pain of having warm beer.
After much time and effort, simple effective solution.

Place KingKeg on a large circular tray.
Find an old cotton T-shirt, presoak and fit over the keg, drape into tray at bottom, the tap conveniently goes through the arm hole :)
Fill the tray with water, this will wick up the t-shirt.
It works without a fan, but for maximum cooling effect place a fan behind. I use a Poundstretcher 5v USB one.
This gives me a cooling effect wrt to ambient of around 4C, a big difference for relatively no cost !
