A metal cask can last >40 years. Plastic casks seem to be lasting about 5 years under general usage.

I have also heard that there can be heat transfer issues with plastic (must say that this is only what has been told to me and not down to any studies)

In regards to retrieval, if a brewery has issues retrieving casks due to distances it may be an idea to look into one ways.

If you ask for a quote they are only slightly cheaper than the metal casks. I think I'd rather have a metal one.

I've just done that, £40 each for the Greencask Vs £61 for stainless steel from hereford casks.

in my book that's not 'only slightly cheaper' that's 2/3rds the cost :thumb:

It'll last 10 times as long however!
