keeping a lager cool while brewing

I know alot of people use ice baths with lagers, i was wondering if i could place a frozen 2l bottle into my fermenter to keep the temp down sterilised of course, Would this cause any problems?

you need a specific temperature for lager, not just cooled...it needs heat control, really.

2L ice bottle wouldn't do a whole lot imo...

I've just bought an STC-1000 temperature controller. A 60W heater and a fridge for 99p.

Total cost approx £31. Now ready to brew lager.

Although it is a lot more expensive that a 2L bottle of water and I was very lucky with the fridge.

You also risk infection. Lager really needs a temp controlled fridge. :thumb:

yeh thought that might be the case, i dont have room for that kind of setup so ill have to settle for kits that brew at room temp
