i was just about to put the air lock in the top when i pushed it in the rubber seal it fell through the hole and into my brew i tried to find it but i could not find it any where , its about the size of a five pence and made of black rubber, will this ruin the brew , i really hope not

If it was clean and sanitised, which it should have been ;)
I wouldn't worry too much :thumb:

its was i sanitised on wed and today but i did put my hand in to try and find the bugger , it was clean cause i had just been doing the sanitising, is it ok to do that :wha:

I've got away with dipping my arm in once before.......actually that brew turned out really well

its now 24 hours since i started the brew and its not started to bubble yet , when i did my larger brew it was bubbling by now is this normal for stout

What does the top of your beer look like? Does it look like there is any foam appearing?

It may be that that the yeast is working but the CO2 has found somewhere easier to escape.

just had a look and it bubbling away nicely, i lost the rubber seal for the water airlock and have taped it up instead , it must be that

Sometimes it just takes a while for the signs of fermentation to show :hmm:
This can be due to old yeast, lack of aeration, pitching at too high or low a temperature etc, etc :(
But so long as it's working now that's ok
