Hi all,
new to brewing here. I've just set the brew up yesterday and worried about the temperature though. During the day kept at a constant temperature around the 20oC mark but at night even though I've a blanket around it it gets quite nippy. Somethin up with the heating that's not lettin it keep constant (poor student :( ). Will this affect the brew much? Should I leave it to ferment a wee bit longer?

Don't worry about it. I tend to leave my brew for 2 weeks then start taking hydrometer readings to find out I it is finished fermenting. You want the same reading over 2-3 days then you can move onto bottling :thumb:

It is more important to keep the brew below 21c. Fermentation is exothermic so will maintain its temp. I wouldn't worry it will be done when it is done. I personally think you get a better brew when done slower having said that sometimes the yeast just get to work and have the job done in 2-3 days.

Once it has finished leave it at 20c for a few more days then put somewhere cool to clear before bottling.
