I'll pass on the Forum's thoughts, then I'll just abide by his request and support his ambitions wherever and whenever I can.
I did tell him about my own problems with a Headmaster as one of my sweetest memories was the day I took my own son out of his school. When I explained the work related reasons why the lad would be leaving his school the Headmaster's response was "How did YOU get a job like that?" in the same tone of voice that he'd used fifteen years before when he'd told me how thick I was.
After I had explained how American Companies in the UK promoted people on merit and sacked them if they couldn't do the job he then asked the best question of all with "How much does a job like that pay?"
I immediately doubled my UK salary (which was already more than a Grammar School Headmaster was paid) and explained how I was being seconded overseas by the same company at an even bigger (tax-free) salary and with private schooling for my children.
The look on his face as I left his presence was a picture I will never forget. The saying "Revenge is a dish best served cold." is very true!
Many thanks for everyone's input. :thumb:
