I am on my second batch of wine from the range, and although I have done the same as the first one I have lumps floating on the top during the clearing process as well as sediment on the bottom. The wine smells OK but the lumps don't look good. Can't seem to upload pictures.

Hallow m8,
there'd be more experience brewer shortly to answer your questions.
as you mention its in the cleaning up process, the smell ok!
TBH time is the best suggestion...sediment at the bottom..good.
the lumps look there not able to sink down, but think in time they will.
cold crashing wine isnt something i know...only with beers n lagers.
to me if theres no infection theres nowt to worry..like i said the guru's would put your mind at ease shortly.

How long has it been in DJ ?
If it smells ok as said above I'd say just leave it and time will sort it.
No rush to bottle.

The lumps are dark looking and look like they are suspended in a thin froth at the top if that makes sense. The wine smells fine IMO but the lumps don't look like they should be there. I have a picture but can't get it to upload

Only put the stabiliser and finings in last night. Maybe I am being a bit impatient but the last batch didn't do this and had almost cleared within a day.

Leave for another week - if no bubbles just rack off again to another DJ and pass through some muslin cloth.

Yeah possibly . I always stabilise first , then add finings a few days later and leave a week before bottling at least.

I ordered mine of t'internet [emoji106]

As Bri says - patience [emoji99]

Definitely impatient, the last batch went down a treat and I'm on my last 5 litres and don't want to have to go back to buying from the shop again now that I see how cheap it is to make your own.

maybe that's where I went wrong I put finings in straight after the stabiliser but strange first batch didn't have the big lumps

I know what you're saying [emoji106]
I've got batches going constantly , start making from juices or fruit - even cheaper than kits !!

Haha!! Your too right..
Our lass is a bit of wine snob lol fancied another red wine.."babes could go to the shops and get more wine?"
Looked in my cellar got rose, cherry and apple and a black grape/Apple left...open a bottle of black grape/apple...first of all the pulled a face!!
I said "watch how much you drink, it'll be slightly stronger!"
Saved about a fiver and watching her get up the stairs to bed was a picture...
Like u said how easy it is to make and as long as the people can hack the taste..why not.
I'm getting better n better every batch, the wine is clearing up nicely getting right sweet tooth and no off tastes is a bonus
Good skills pal

Your rushing things, Slow down , start by racking into a clean vessel wash out your demi johns and return the wine to them put under airlock and leave another week or until you are sure it not fermenting still. then pour into clean demi john through muslin(Wilko) i use a muslin lined funnel. This will help clean and de gas the wine, then under air lock some were cold for two weeks to clear, Then bottle and condition. You will find instructions on beer and wine kits, to be fictional were time spans are concerned, it all ways takes far longer, Wine kits still need a few months conditioning to become drinkable.

even if its the worst wine ever, it will still make a grand rich cooking liquor :)
Even if its the worst wine ever I will still try my hardest to drink it( to miserable bin it). Took tanzanites advice and transferred it to new container, feel better now still a bit cloudy but no lumps now

Couldn't help it but had to taste it and have to say its as good as any £5 bottle from the shop, so all good. Hopefully get better the longer it sits although that won't be that long the way me and the missus go thru it.
