I've only just kegged my first ever home brew on Wednesday and I was wondering if it is okay to drink after a week? I know that I should leave it for 2-4 weeks but I'm off to Glastonbury on Wednesday and am wondering is it ok to take some as I don't want to make any of us ill !!! :hmm:

It will not taste as good as it can...
Leave it if you can.

I don't think It will make you ill but just won't taste great. I found that beer made from kits takes many weeks to be ok. AG and extract beer is good much sooner.

I have found yeasty beer has a "clearing" effect on the bowels of those not used to it. Do they have a lot of loos at Glastonbury?

I would say leave it at home unless you want to spend alot of time in the long drops...

I will be there aswell..travel down tomorrow and start work on Monday

Good advice ^^^ leave it at home.

Glasto is the whole reason I started brewing again, luckily I started back in February and now have a stash of about 80 litres to choose from :D

Arriving Tuesday :drink:

I too would recommend leaving it at home its just too early I don't it would travel well I think it would disappoint to be totally honest plus I don't think it would digest well either :!:

Definitely leave it at home - you don't want to use the Glastonbury loos any more than is essential

If you've only just kegged it it'll need a couple of weeks in the warm to carbonate. Plus, do you really want to carry a keg to Glasto? It'll need a good few days to settle once you arrive by which time it'll be all over.

As for the loos... there's nothing wrong with them. Just don't look down.

I'd just leave it at home, I don't think it would make you ill, maybe just a bit farty from all the yeast still in suspension! Remember too that you have to carry your drink in this year without "wheeled devices" so I'm not sure how you'd go about getting a keg in. I'm just gonna bring mead and gin!

They've retracted that email (check out the news on the website), you can carry/wheel it however you like as long as it's all for personal consumption (not sure how you determine what is for personal consumption).

Although there will be trub everywhere :(

Leave it at home, from what I have heard the "Prison Issue Tissue" is not so comfortable on ones nipsey, especially if a few "lumpy farts" have passed through prior to application.

If you do decide to take some very young homebrew, be sure to pack some wetwipes for your delicate areas. As having a sore "tea towel holder" could ruin the enjoyment of slopping about in a muddy farmers field for the weekend, getting seriously rained on.

I on the other hand will be watching from the comfort of my own armchair, marveling at the excellent coverage from the BBC, sipping liberally on my favorite homebrew, then tucking myself into a nice warm bed, fully in the knowledge that some super absorbent "Kitten Soft Tissue" will be on hand for my own Sherrifs Badge as and when required.

I think you could have got something ready in a week if you really aimed at it: a fairly green mild with plenty of roast malts. With low abv you could ferment it in 3-4 days, then fine for two days and rack into polypin on day 6-7 to be drank without carbonation. Pretty much anything else would be unworkable.
