Hi,

I've seen a cider kit I wouldn't mind trying, but all my equipment has been used to make beer so far.. Would it be OK to use the same stuff to make cider after a good wash, or will it still carry a bit of the taste of beer? All my equipment is plastic too, so I'm thinking that might hold onto the 'beer taste' more than glass would.

Any ideas?

IMHO to try it out I would use the beer equipment you have, if you decide you want to carry on and make more in the future then invest in another FV just for cider.

I use anything for anything, but I always use VWP for cleaning after use. That way all traces (well most) of whatever was brewed is gone.

I have FVs. I brew anything in any given one...

Be careful though if you get a second one. They breed...

I use specific fv's for each brew.

Its called...." the closest one to hand "

or " there you are you bugger " depending on my mood.

Just make sure they are cleaned well and rinsed even better after use.

:D

PD

The only place you need to worry is if you start making sour beers. If you do you need to have sour specific equitment (only the plastic bits mind) otherwise grab what is close to hand.

Cheers, good to know.. I've already bought a second carboy since I started this.. In fact, I'll have to go and rack my Mexican Cervesa over into it - should be about ready by now!
