Arch Linux user myself but the best free security/antivirus software is Microsoft security essentials. You will never ever know its there unless you download a virus. From what I have seen its the only decent bit of code MS have ever written. It's a damn good of software.

Prevx 3.0 for me - Just ran a full scan on my system 42 seconds . . .This is what tried to get in over the last month . . .Good thing about PrevX is that it can also run alongside existing software

Used to use Kaspersky And it works well . . . . Found the latest version was a bit bloated compared to previous versions so looked for something leaner.

Got Avast on a few low end boxes that are easy to rebuild and it does the job
