What temperature is the keg at buddy?

Also, what sort of keg?

its the youngs youbrew 5 gallon pressure barrel.

temperature is at a steady 10C or thereabouts.

Very strange and perhaps its down to this kit being nothing but a problem. Done about 30 or so kits so far n by now there would be a fair amount of froth coming out of the tap.

Its like there is no c02 building up either and pressurising the barrel since when i do pour a tiny bit out it chugs its way out

After transferring to the pressure barrel, i left this in my room for about 4-5 days at 22'C. I then moved it to the kitchen where the temperature is around 18'C.

I sampled a day later, and there was a good sized head. The taste wasn't much, but it has potential. I'll try in a few days to see how it has changed.

In a couple of days this will be moved to a room around 10'C (if it survives the 2hr car journey).

Maybe 10'C is a little too low for the yeasties in your barrel?

thanks guys. A bit piddled at the moment, bloody cheap beer.

So will have to properly check things tomorrow. Maybe thats the problem, the temp of the barrel.

been 4 days in barrel, did have a bit earlier, like a tiny sip, still no head, time to head up the place I think :P

sooo gutted about this kit :(

Everything has been checked now and in theory it should be fine for the ale...

poured some of it today nearly a week on from its time in the barrel and still not good at all...

It looks really cloudy, and because of the lack of c02 for whatever reason it still wont pour... Even if I wanted to pour a pint of it, only about 1/3rd of a glass comes out (if that) and it stops pouring :(

Today this ale was meant to be ready. Had it sitting in the conservatory for the last couple of days to settle out, and i'm quite disappointed. It had been in the barrel for about 13 days previously.

Cloudy, very bitter aftertaste, no pressure. Not sure what went wrong, but i don't know what to do now.

Does anyone think i should whack a little bit of yeast in there and wait for a couple more weeks? The yeast that was in there is most probably dormant by now, (or dead)? as the conservatory is pretty cold at the moment, i'd like the yeast to finish what they started! Don't really want to pour it away

I would say drink it as it is or get rid....

Mine is EXACTLY the same. Its cloudy, no aftertaste and 100% no barrel pressure (I have to force it out of the barrel sloooowwwwllllyyy). Since its xmas eve and thats the only beer I got I have been drinking it regardless. Had 3 pints and feel a tad tipsy (not much but enough to make me think its probably between 4.2 and 5.2%)

As someone else mentioned Muntons are aware that this kit has problems (stuck fermentation, etc) so best thing is to get onto muntons and request a replacement kit (Im going to do that if things are no better next week)

Temperature could be a problem but I highly doubt the problem is due to temperature alone. I have brewed other kits at colder temperatures that came out fine.

Maybe you could try and add yeast but I dont think it would work too well and afterall the kit was clearly prepared to be ready around xmas time not a few weeks or months later.

I cant believe that the previous worst kit I have done (geordie bitter) is better in all aspects than this kit after just 2 weeks (winter warmer has had a month overall).

Maybe now im gonna think twice about ever buying a muntons kit again
