Should snacking be banned or moved to one area in cinemas?

Chewing and food bag noise being blamed for ruining peoples viewing pleasure, do you agree?

People could show a bit more respect for those around them, do they really need to stuff their faces with popcorn just because they are watching a film, surely it's not a big ask to go without food for the duration of the film.

The cinema is not a social occasion. For one thing, it's dark. For another attention is on the screen, not one's neighbours. I don't go to the cinema to listen to some fat chav stuffing his face while chatting with his/her ghastly brood.
You're wrong Pilgrim. Inappropriate behaviour that inconveniences others shouldn't be tolerated it should be corrected. Why should those of us who have paid good money have to put up with it?

Nothing was said about chatting through a film, obviously thats not acceptable.

But not being allowed popcorn because someone else may not like it? Gimme a break!

*Just for the record I haven't been to the cinema for about 20yrs......*

Not enough coffee this morning.

At first read, I thought you were suggesting that 5Live should be banned.
Then I read the first post, and thought you were suggesting smacking would be banned (a common topic) and couldn't for the life of me figure out why you would have a special section of the cinema where people could smack their children.

I 100% agree with everything cwrw666 said.

On the other foot, I think eating popcorn etc at the cinema is part of the experience for a lot of people, and if you take that away, it might be less desirable to go.

I think there's always some pompous fun sponge who likes to shush people and so on.

If other people bother you that much, either move seats or don't go at all.

I think the 'fat chav' comment was disgraceful. Everyone who is watching the film has paid their money and has a right to be there.

Smacking is to be encouraged. A tasteful punch in the gob can work wonders in educating those who can't eat their popcorn or sandwiches properly and quietly. After all, if we are to tolerate a bit of inconsideration, why shouldn't they tolerate a friendly bit of violence?

I don't mind as long as they shut up,sit still, feet down and phones off!
On more than one occasion I've had to politely ask for persons to do some or all of the above..usually with the cinema staff intervening.

Taking popcorn out of the theatre is like making a lager with kviek...

Yeah, sure, cinemas are going to stop selling popcorn etc.
Obviously they are not going to stop selling it as you say it makes them money

5 lives in my opinion opens subjects up for discussion people give their views and it's interesting to hear both sides I think those that would "stop people snacking" won today.

I went to a cinema in London last weekend, and was delighted to see a "No Food in the Auditorium" sign. More of this kind of thing! Of course, half the trouble is, the cinema chains make half their profit on popcorn.

The same can be said of those who pay to watch the movie not listen to some not fat person rustling crisp packets and eating nosily, maybe instead of putting eaters in a certain place they could have a quiet section for those that want to watch the movie with no extra sound effects.

not listen to some not fat person rustling crisp packets

Thin people are capable of rustling crisp packets too. Why does it have to be about fat people?

Sorry but I think that's out of order and very discriminatory, same as the other post I took exception to.

I'm all for people having a different opinion to me, but play fair.

9/10 of your posts I agree with you, but I can't agree on this.

Provided they make that quiet section take up 90% of the seating, I could get behind that plan 😂

It was a little play on words from the post you originally posted displeasure at -
