Hi guys sorry to bother you all but i need help im new to this brewing stuff so i thought id start out with one of those kits (coopers mexican cerveza) so i sanitized anything and everything using metabysulphite i followed the instructions on the kit i took a hydrometer reading b4 i put the yeast in which was 1.040 then i added the yeast sealled it and stook it in a dark cupboard at about 16 degrees celcius after about 2 weeks i took a sample and the hydrometer reading said just slightly past 1.008 so i popped my carbonation drops into the bottle and bottled it but my problem is it seems to be quite orange and looks flat really hope someone can help me as really want to continue with brewing

Hello and welcome.

It sounds as if you have done things right. A bit more information would help. Did you use glass or plastic bottles? how long ago did you bottle it and what temperature has it been sitting at since you did?

I have never brewed this kit so i can not comment on the colour of your beer.

righteo firstly thank you for the repply secondly iused those plastic pet bottles you buy from brewing shop and was sitting at about 15 celcius while in main fermenter for the two weeks b4 bottling now ive had it sitting in the bottle for about a week at 11 celcius dont know if this is rite as i am still very new this is my first homebrew

I would also move them somewhere a bit warmed. This will help the yeast to metabolise the sugar and carbonate your beer. I generally leave mine at room temp for 2 weeks before moving somewhere colder.

Don't worry, by the sounds of it your beer has fermented out perfectly you just now need to be patent and let it carbonate then condition at a colder temp then :drink:

Like Alan says put the bottles somewhere room temp for 2 weeks then chill for minimum 2 more weeks then you should have some nice beer! Longer you leave it, better it gets!

+1 for the stick it somewhere warm advice.

Also, kit lagers do tend to look a bit darker than you would normally expect. My guess is its just the way they make the malt extract - maybe just caramelises it a bit?

Actually... how do they make malt extract?

well would just like to thank all you guys who gave me advice just oppend my first bottle of me brew its the rite colour it has bubbles (no head so to speak but hey ho) and it tastes great so once again thanks for the tips :D
