I have used it a few times. It has a mild bittering and subtle melon taste. If you like in your face hops this is not the one it is ideal in hopped lager/wheat beers IMO but if you use it on its own in a pale that would be ok but stronger flavoured hops will soon overpower it so use it on its own
 
Used Huell Melon once in a Wheat on its own - beer was so good, it all went in a couple of weeks. Also with Sauvignon Blanc in pale ales a couple of times and will do so again. Not a "hoppy" beer by today's fashions, but very drinkable. The pale ales I did basically have the GH SHA malt profile, which is just pale malt plus a small amount of pale crystal.

ISTR someone telling me that Huell Melon was one of those hops that had a lot of whichever compound it is that some hops can convert to citronellol during fermentation (I don't think it's as much as Hallertauer Blanc, but I think it's above average for this) ... so if you did find yourself investing in a LOT of it, as well as following some of the suggestion above, adding some into the first dry-hop for one of those "double dry-hopped" beers may well see it providing some of that "Citra effect" :?:

I agree. I used Hüll Melon as the main flavour hop in a beer and it really didn't come through. I'd certainly use it in a wheat beer and i imagine it would be great (thanks Slid, that's where the rest are going). Mixing with Nelson Sauvin or Hüll Blanc would certainly be interesting. LeeH, I wouldn't buy a kilo until you've tried them, if I were you.

A kilo would represent 200L+ of Beer, depending on how hoppy you are aiming for. 400 of those on the bounce might get a bit "samey".
 
I’ve got a 2 packs of these in the freezer, what sort of hopping rates did you guys use?

It was the price that made the attractive, just though it might of made a few gallons kegs a sessionable pale ale of some sort.
