Great - thanks @chthon . So in summary (and thanks to knowing pronunciations in French, Flemmish, Dutch and German), it turns out I was pronouncing Duvel correctly, but dubbel slightly wrong (the u sound). Not that I have much need to say it that often, but it's good to know.
