Just wondering how all our other halves feel about doing homebrew and if you have had to grovel and beg to do it

nope its my hobby...no grovelling needed. she can't stand beer anyway

She doesn't mind it tooooo much. She doesn't like bits and bobs all over the kitchen and she is a little cagey about how much I drink, but other than that she's fine with it :)

yea a bit like knitting !...or puff pastry making...

Mine is fine,She even buys supplies for my brewing & takes grain deliveries in from M Miller & others.
Birthday pressies are normally brewing related, in return i make her tipple which is wine & we often spend a morning at a local fruit farm picking produce for winemaking followed by lunch with a beer at the local pub at the farm entrance this way we both get enjoyment my hobby, :thumb:  ken.

My other half loves it! Drinks it as much as me and appreciates the fact it's prob better than most pub beer! She even suggests styles that she wants to drink! Looks like I'm in the minority tho!

My other half doesn't mind too much and just stays out the way on brew days. She does moan at times when I leave FV's, bottles and other random equipment lying about the house but she does like the results and, having never been a beer drinker before, does drink a beer or two now and again and comments on how good it is :thumb:

I started it mainly for her - she's coeliac so had to give up beer.
OK I haven't done much gluten-free ale (couple of tries at Duncan Incapable's ersatz recipes, a better-than-expected go at millet ale, and a sorghum lager kit) but the TurboCider goes down a treat and the country wines are good. And the mead...

She's supped the first two TCs, I've got one in primary and one in secondary, plus a wow white wine in primary...............all for her.
She chunters as I'm sure many do but as soon as something went into a bucket for her she quiet ended down quite a bit.
She's house proud so doesn't really like my kit taking over the house, but as long as I keep it to a minimum and tidy up after myself she's ok really.
On the whole I'd say she was pretty impressed with what I've done, as she remembers home brew from the bad old days.
6/10 needs further work!!!

So I'm the same as most of you guys then. My OH moans about the smell in our bedroom but it's the only place I feel it's safe with the kids running around lol. Other than that she isn't really bothered. She just told me that tomorrow I'll be receiving 5 need kits, a FV and a heat jacket all for 35 quid from a guy on facebook. Right now I couldnt be.happier with her,lol

So Kind of you Dennis

Mine's ok with it. She appreciates decent beer, so will drink a bit of mine, but has a razor sharp palate so can be quite critical. That's ok, I'm aiming for perfection :)

She's become a lot more interested in the hobby since I started doing yeast starters. She has a background in microbiology, and has worked in micro-labs in the diary and pharmaceutical industries. So I find myself the 2nd most knowledgable person in the house in these matters...

Swmbo drinks more of what I make than I do  . As long as I'm tidy and don't leave to much mess I don't get in to much trouble. just need to find more time to get more brews on :hmm:

Mine bought me the kit as I'd showed interest because I'd done it in the past.

She promptly went on a diet :wha:

But I have a feeling she'll be doing some testing for me. And I think she might even have a pear cider.

It keeps me out of her way too on a Saturday.
