here's me and my beer swilling mate...acting daft as usual!

I hate blunt knives. When I go to my parents they have hundreds of knives, all of which struggle cutting through an onion, I don't know how they live with themselves.

I'm always sharpening our knives at home, my wife says she doesn't notice. I have this horrible dystopian view of her world if I wasn't there where she does cooking with blunt knives.
The thing I hate most about AirBNBs are the blunt knives and crap pans.
And a lack of bottle opener is the final straw.

I keep the chef's knives to where they run through a sheet of paper. I'm not sure if I could shave with one but I wouldn't doubt it. I've been told by a professional that the most dangerous object in a kitchen is a dull knife. Worked in the restaurant business for a long time so can't stand a dull one.

My wife and I went to an airbnb with the intention of doing most the cooking ourselves, we brought with half our kitchen.

I come on here or the US sister site and peruse. Those are delicious organic tomatoes grown by some farmer an hour away (there were four of them). Next time I'll make a BLT or an MLT where the mutton is nice and lean. Going to pickle/can a lot of cucumbers and jalapenos since I have no interest in them in their current state. From what I understand so far, it's vinegar, proper kind of salt, garlic, dill and just the basics for the jalapenos.

Slicing and dicing in the kitchen (I love my knives).
Entering grades into the system after an afternoon of grading.
After a hellish hour of working out.
I also love knives. I have a in my kitchen. I am a chef so I use knives and love them. Which knives do you like?

A chef friend of the family bought me a Sabatier chef’s, boning and paring knife set for my 21st, almost 30 years ago now. I still have them, and half a dozen other Sabatier knives as well.
I am lusting after some Japanese Damascus however. Once my whet stone skills are up to scratch I’m going to get the ball rolling with a Santoku.

You reminded me of a visit to Blists Hill near Ironbridge. It's a recreation of a Victorian town. The guys there doing the woodworking display looked after their tools so well. They almost caressed the handles as they picked them up and lovingly used them to carve and whittle spokes and spindles in no time. One of them showed us his sharpening regime for a spokeshave - a quick polish with a leather strop after each use; no waiting until the end of the shift, keep your tools sharp from moment to moment. The spokeshave blade was simply polished to perfection and the blade could slice through paper rested on its perfect edge. True craftsmanship.

A slightly harder task these days with two kids that are on my case a lot of the time. When they're gaming it's a bit quieter but my wife won't let them on screens for more than a few hours a week as she thinks it negatively affects their behaviour. Never was a problem for me growing up but then perhaps Jet Set Willy on a 48k Spectrum isn't quite so stimulating.

If we're lucky the wife and I can escape to the end of the garden without them noticing and sit in the sun for a while with a beer. The wife prefers a white wine or gin though.

Once we've got them off to bed we get an hour or so of TV and that's probably a more relaxing time for having a drink. Problem is these days I struggle to stay awake for long and the attention span is not so good for complicated dramas 😆

I always have a homebrew or two before our evening meal. My wife is normally preparing the meal, so I often take the opportunity to catch up on recorded TV programmes that she's not interested in - like Moto GP, WSB (now that it's on again), and almost any science, technology or bike related stuff that catches my interest.
She doesn't drink beer (prefers red wine or a g & t) . . . . . So, I have to step up and do the right thing 🤪

I have a set of Zwilling knives, some other assorted knives, I don't really mind the brand as long as they work well with my zwilling honing steel. I cannot understand people that don't get sharp-enough knives.
