Planning this one folks......

8kg Marris Otter
1kg Sugar

90 min hops:
100g Columbus @16%
50g Amarillo @8.6%
50g Chinook @ 12%

30min hops
100g Amarillo @8.6%
50g Chinook @12%

10min hops
100g Cascade @7%

0min hops
50g Amarillo @8.6% steeped for about 20 mins

Should top 400 IBUs...

Am thinking of adding some corriander seed to go with the citrus but am unsure of how much to add and when.... Any ideas?

At the moment I only have Notty yeast but its a bit bland really I need something spicier. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

That looks a belter.

I would be surprised if you tasted corriander with the amount of yankee hops in the mix.

I suppose the yeast depends in what you are after from the beer. I made a Punk IPA clone a few months ago and used US-05 as it really lets the hop profile dominate.

I wouldn't worry about the yeast or Coriander, at 400IBU you won't be able to taste it after all your taste buds have run off to hide

*COUGH*

Recipe please! :D

Hells bells, I thought I did my beers on the hoppy side
Gonna take some maturing that one

Outstanding! How long are you planning to condition for - what's the brewlength?

Love it!

Well, looks like this is finally on for tomorrow.

I only have nottingham yeast which is far from ideal, but I need to get brewing sometime!

Grain bill has been changed to 9.2kg Marris Otter and 800g Crystal.

Planning a 2 hour mash to enure I get decent efficiency....

By the way, I have a standard H&G mash tun. If I have 10kg of grain, how much liquor am I likely to be able to squeeze in?

Just read this.

The recipe looks exteme to say the least your going to be tasting hops for weeks.

Are you planning on heavily sparging the hops, to get your 23l cos 500G of hops is going to soak up some wort?

Yes indeed. Will probably end up losing quite a bit to hops, hence the sugar to up the OG a bit, plus the 800g crystal to add some more body if I need to add more liqour to make up the volume.

Might have trouble with tannin extraction though..... :wha:

edit - you said sparge the hops? how?

Sparge them as you would your mash but with pretreated water at the same temp as your finished brew liqour. to wash the wort out of the hops. ;)

OK, but dont you end up washing a ton of break material into the fv?

With that amount of hops I doubt it, But a decent hop filter helps.

Meh. Decided not to go through with this one.

Its just not going to work with notty is it?

Going with 100g Chinook for bittering, then 50g Amarillo each at 30mins and 0mins....

Should give me a nice grapefruity barleywine.
