Hey all,
Just an odd one I've been pondering about, this is!
I've got a hop vine or two which grow down the bottom of my garden, seemingly wild, which I first really took a look at last year. They are really nice looking vines, and when they flower, produce massive cones... and masses of them!
Anyway, I have no idea what variety they are, if they are any good or anything- but it is getting near flowering time in a few weeks!
So, do you all think it would be worth me trying them in a brew at some point? and beforehand, does anyone know how to tell hop varieties apart, without needing a really, really good nose and knowledge of the things?
Any help would be great- and if anyone is curious to try some, I'm sure I could ship a few free bags out... I remember looking at them last year, hwne I had a mild curiosity in home brewing, that I could easily get a few hundred good cones off the damn thing! :)
