Hi all,

Whist searching for kit brews to do I came across an idea by Roy Lake on Youtube where he makes something called a "Cascarillo". This was made with liquid malt extract and two hops - Cascade and Amarillo.

Thing is when he talked through the recipe he said he boiled the hopes with some water and some of the LME then when cooled he dumped it into the FV with the rest of the LME and water. What was not clear was if he straining out the boiled hops first before adding to the FV.

I would like to have a go at this beer - possibly also with some dry hopping but wondered if dumping all of the boiled hops in would spoil the flavour or if dumping the whole lot in is the way to go!

Also does anyone think that making a hop tea would achieve the same result or in fact would this get more hop flavour than boiling with the LME.

Sorry if this is obvious but don't want to mess up a brew.

Thanks in advance

When making extract brews it's usual to do the boil with about half the extract and add the rest at the end. If it's your first time with LME be careful not to let it sink and burn on the bottom of the pan, keep stirring until it is fully mixed in.

Good generic Extract brewing video here

Strain the hops out when putting it in the FV, but feel free to dry hop later when the krausen has died down.
